Warranty lies

They tell you to your face that you have a 5 year warranty. But then when a problem raises they say only a year then proceed to say only covers barefoot spa made components. Which is funny since they do NOT make ANY components. Fraud

Very fraulent company. When you buy they will tell you one thing after your purchase you will here and see a total different story I'm retired and now I will show up at every spa show to tell my story to people Before they make a mistake and purchase like I did.

To boot there product is very over priced. I found the same hot tub a Costco for half the price. Also it does not need a 200 volt 50 amp outlet .

They will not show the outlet type until they deliver so they know they don't have to hook up the tub and leave you stuck . Please do your homework on this before you purchase.

Barefoot Spas - Hot Tub Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Buyer beware!! I purchased one of their tubs at a civic center event.

Once we left I saw all the bad reviews online and went back to cancel the same day. Was told there could be no refund and their contract states a 100 percent re stocking fee. It took me weeks to get this mess straightened out.

Thank God I put it on a credit card or I would have been screwed. This company is a total rip off!

My husband and I are going through this nightmare right now! Bought the MB7 model at a convention center in Collinsville, IL.

Shady salesman that lie about their product, warranty, and terms and conditions. Put a down payment with credit card and financed the rest with them, big mistake! Disputed charge with credit card company and now have to fight a battle with the finance company.

Using the 3 day right to cancel given by the Federal Trade Commission. Any suggestions or advice?

Guest

You have to dispute the charges with your credit card company. Be diligent and don't give up.

Document everything and everyone you talk to.These *** bags are the worst of the worst.

Rip off company and a piece of *** tub. Buy local from a real dealer where you can get service.

How did you resolve this. I am going through same situation. I did use credit card.

Anyone having trouble getting out of contract with this company have any suggestions for us? How did you resolve situation. We paid with credit card and are trying to get out of contact.

Guest

We are having same situation right now. Bought yesterday.

.. we're you able to get this resolved? If so what did you do?

We did put it on our discover card. Would appreciate your input

Guest

Exact same thing happened to me. Pure jerks starting with the owner of the company.

They could care less about the customer. All they want is your money. Read the back of that B. S.

contract before you sign it and understand if you pay with cash your stuck! Also their inferior product is no deal!

Guest

The same thing happened to me!! I put it on a credit card as well and my credit card company is siding with them because I signed a contract.

I don't know how this company can get away with doing their shady business.

They should have to abide by state laws they are selling their products in. May I ask how you resolved this?

Read Federal Trade Commission’s “buyer remorse” law. You can find it if you google it.

I am going through this with them now. Also spoke with a lawyer. He said they don’t have a leg to stand on. For them to say the sale is final is in violation of federal laws stating otherwise.

You have 3 business days to notify them of your decision to cancel. You don’t have to give a reason.

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT - Barefoot spas shady sales tactics! DO NOT PURCHASE!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought very expensive Barefoot Spa at one of the civic shows. This show was based out of Richmond Virginia.

Was sold that the SPA was new technology that was 'antimicrobial' and would not need chemicals...told would need filters but would not need chemicals. Asked for this in writing and kept being referred to 'the manual' that is on the 'website.' Did not have a copy that we could look at on the premises. SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR RED FLAG and we should have walked at that time. There is also no 3 day return, the buyers recourse for major purchases - change your mind (as North Carolina allows for major purchases) because the company is in Virginia and not North Carolina.

Every representative that we talked with, the mantra 'we will not give you your money back!' was repeated! The state of Virginia does not have to honor North Carolina's 3 day return because they are based in Virginia - why do they not have to honor laws in the states that they hock their products??? Multiple attempts, even with an attorney, were unsuccessful.

SO BUYER BEWARE! The sales people DO NOT TELL THE TRUTH and they DO NOT HAVE AN ANTIMICROBIAL SPA that DOES NOT REQUIRE CHEMICALS even though that is what they were using as the basis of their sales pitch...when we did check the website, there is no information to support an antimicrobial finish that does not require chemicals.

Barefoot Spas Reply:
Ms. Mull, We are sorry to hear about your issues with your sales process. Please understand that we cannot control the experience from our dealers. We do stand by the fact that all of our shells are made with high end medical grade anti microbial acrylic. While we strive to be as chemically free as possible, some may be needed to balance water chemistry and to speed up the cleaning process from use.

Do not do business with this company

I purchased a spa from this company at one of the Civic shows. I was promised the sun and the moon and how great the company was to stand behind their product.

Prior to purchasing the spa I stated quite clearly where it would be installed on my property and asked if that would present any problems, as I had to dig out an area for it to rest on. I was assured that this would be absolutely no problem as long as there was access for a technician to service the spa. That was accomplished. The spa was positioned on a concrete slab.

It stopped working after a major storm in the area. The company refuses to stand behind the product as they say where the spa was installed revoked any warranty. This product would never have been purchased had sales staff answered honestly. It has been more than a month now and I still do not have an operational spa.

Unless you have money you wish to burn, run from this company as fast as you can.

Once they get your money they will wipe their hands of you.

Been waiting 5 weeks for brand new Barefoot Spa to be fixed

Updated by user Oct 10, 2016

The leak was fixed when the technician came that Monday. I filled the tub on Thursday and started the tub Thursday night.

On Friday morning I checked the tub and it had quit running. I talked with the customer service person at Barefoot and they were unable to help but they had the technician call me. He had me test somethings and turns out a fuse had blown. I bought another fuse and installed it.

That fuse blew in less than an hour.

We have been troubleshooting the issue and believe the second motor is the issue. I have been able to run the tub with the other two jets.

Original review Sep 30, 2016

I bought the PB8 spa at one of the shows at a local civic center. It was delivered in a few days.

It took me a week and a half to get the wiring squared away so I was excited to fill the tub. Not long after putting water in, we saw water coming from underneath. I called Barefoot the next day and explained what I saw. They were to schedule a technician to visit to find the leak.

It took over two weeks to get someone to come look at it. The first technician they tried would never call to schedule time. The second called and because of his schedule took several days to come to diagnose the issue. He quickly found where the leak was and called Barefoot.

They figured out what they thought was the part needed and it was to be shipped. We received the parts in a few days and rescheduled the technician. When he came, it was the wrong part. We called Barefoot again and they sent another part next day and it was still the wrong part.

After five weeks we finally have a part that will supposedly work but isn't exactly the same as the outer housing on the original part was 4 inches and the new is 4.5 inches. it will be visible in the tub which I am not happy about. I asked for two more to match the other and was told that was not possible. The technician is coming Monday so hopefully it will be fixed.

My take on Barefoot is they will do the minimal possible to resolve your issue. I have asked to speak with a manager and was told they weren't available and have never received a call back after leaving a voice mail. It seems easy to send two additional jets so the three together will be a match and they refused. They are three hours from where I live and they refused to have someone from the factory to come and fix the issue which forced me to wait several additional days on a third party technician.

I asked for compensation for the extreme delay and was offered an additional starter kit (not near enough in my opinion).

I do not recommend anyone to buy a Barefoot Spa. I just pray it is fixed next week.

So far, we really like our spa but the customer service (???) is HORRIBLE!! Don't get prompt calls back and when I tried to get a part number to order filters online, they said there is no universal part number.

So, instead, I asked for exact measurements so I could be sure I ordered the correct filter ($24 online versus their $39). They didn't know the measurements. NO ONE could give me exact measurements to ensure I ordered the right one. Best they did was tell me I should order one from them to be safe.

Then, I placed the order on July 4th. I expected it to ship on the 5th and arrive by the 8th or 9th. Today is July 12th and I FINALLY got a call back and they said my filter should arrive today.

TERRIBLE service, not helpful, not prompt.

Barefoot Spas Reply:
Mr. Wiseman, we are sorry to hear about your difficulties with the spa. Please be aware that you were not speaking with us, but instead your dealer who you bought from. They are correct in stating we do not have a universal part number as they are proprietary to our brand. You are free to use any aftermarket part you wish, but the only filter we recommend is the one built just for our spas.

Delivered Damaged, Broke 30 minutes after filling with water!! Highly Dissatisfied Customer!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I bought the PL8 spa from Barefoot and it was the last one they had on the show floor. It had a cracked panel and some stuff smudged on the shell. The salesman assured me he was immediately going to change the panel and have "the glue from packaging," as he called it, from the shell removed prior to delivery. I also pointed out that the steps looked worn and battered and he assured me a new set would be delivered, that those steps were just used for the show.

Upon delivery the drivers were totally dumbfounded when it came to following directions and drove their vehicle with the tub in the back, through my yard in two separate spots, instead of driving down the where my water sprinklers are located, leaving indentions and hopefully not damaging my water sprinklers, instead of driving down the pipeline along my fence line. Mind you, it had been raining for 4 days prior to my delivery so my yard was quite soft! Then they slid the hot tub on its side, by placing just cardboard underneath, the length of a football field, from their truck to my back porch instead of driving up to my back porch to unload (and there weren't even water sprinklers in the backyard!)

I noticed that the quarter back panel had a 2-3 inch gash in it. The sticky substance that the salesman referred to as "glue from packaging" and assured me would be removed prior to delivery that is on several places on the shell, was and is still on the shell. The steps, WOW!! Not only did I not get a new set of those, but I got a worse set of steps than the ones on the show floor!!!! I don't know what the delivery drivers' did to them before they got them to my house, but they came covered in mud and filled with muddy water. Upon cleaning off the mud, the flat part of the steps are dull, scratched, gashed and beat to H.E.double hockey sticks and back as if they have been used for quite some time and then returned!! I am VERY displeased about that.

Now to worse part, quality! We hire an electrician to come out and hook up our electric so we can fill up our new hot tub and get that all done and the hot tub runs about 30 minutes and Pump #3 goes out!! And it is still out because my husband is too stubborn to call and have them send out a repair technician since their isn't even a local company to even deal with. He is determined to try to fix it on his own, which owning our own business means he has no time to do that so it sits outside with a Pump not working and therefore not being used and has NEVER been used!!

I went to the hot tub show to replace my Caldera tub that sold with my house when it sold. Unfortunately all that was on display was Barefoot Spas. The salesman gave us this line that they were now #1 in the Industry and showed us all the reasons why and gave us some very good points. We googled Barefoot Spas and couldn't find anything bad about them and they gave us a really good price on the spa so we felt we couldn't pass up the deal.

Now I wish I would have stuck with a brand I could trust like Caldera or Hot Spring because I have a hot tub that arrived in poor condition with used, not new, steps and one of the pumps went out within 30 minutes of putting water in, running it, and before ever getting to use it!! NO, I do NOT recommend this type of spa NOR this spa dealer!! Buyer Beware!!

STEER CLEAR OR BAREFOOT SPAS SERVICE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

First off I have no issue with the tub itself but if you are like me and prefer a vendor that stands behind their product with excellent customer service you need to not purchase a Barefoot Spa. Purchased in Oct. 2014, we had a jet fail in Dec. 2015; well within the 3 year jet warranty. Sometimes these thing happen; no big deal, I'll just contact customer service right? First off, no one ever answers the phone, its always a call-back. Second when I did get to talk to a person, even though I had the model, serial#, purchase date and location I still needed to send a picture to them of the jet for them to identify. Next the service agent gave me the wrong email address to send to. Second attempt, after another call-back I got the correct address. I am attaching the exact exchange for you to see:

**My first email**

Barefoot,

I need assistance replacing my hot tub jet. The one shown in the pictures, the center came out of the jet and was floating in the tub. The ball bearing of the center spinner also were found in the bottom of the tub.

Outer diameter of jet assembly is approx. 5 inches. The spa is a PB8 with serial# ######.

My name is Mark ######################, NC 28590. I talked to customer service today and was told to take pictures and submit to this web address for replacement. If there are any further questions, please advise.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Please confirm receipt and delivery..... Thanks again.

BR,

Mark ###

If you need to contact me in a more timely manner please call my cell#:

**Barefoot Response**

Mark,

Attached is the credit card authorization form to place your order for replacement jets. If you could fill out form completely and send it back either by fax or email.

The cost of the 5" replacement jet is $14.99 (each), plus $5.99 shipping.

However, the replacement jets that we sell are single whole directional jets and do not spin.

Once I receive authorization form I will then process your order. Once order is shipped you will receive an email with the fed ex tracking number.

Kind Regards,

Tina Powell

Customer Service

**My response**

Barefoot,

I am attaching the credit authorization. However, I would like an explanation as to why I cannot get the same type spinner that came in the tub originally. This failed jet was OEM from Barefoot?

Also, this tub was purchased on 8/30/14....just over a year. What is Barefoot's warranty period? I would have thought at least 3 years? Please elaborate on your warranty?

Mark ###

**Barefoot response**

Mark,

Enclosed is copy of the Warranty Terms & Conditions (also on the Barefoot Spas website). Jets: 5 year. Barefoot Spas, covers the jets for five years form the original date of purchase against Barefoot's manufacturing defects.

If you are experiencing the center of your jet coming apart it is due to something abrasive in your water that has caused the glue to come apart over time and that is not covered by warranty, as this is not caused by a flaw in manufacturing.

As far as the style, manufacturing no longer has the same type of jet that you currently have, we only have the directional one hole style jet at this time. However, if you choose to replace it with the same style of jet you currently have you are welcome to do a google search to find that style of jet for replacement.

I did receive the cc authorization, please let me know if you wish to purchase the replacement jet from Barefoot Spas so I know to proceed in processing your order.

Thank You

Customer Service

**My response**

Barefoot Spa,

I'm calling BS on this response. I have a tub full of your OEM jets and none have failed but this one. I would think if my water was the problem I would be seeing a multitude of failures. And for you to imply the water without even inspecting the jet closely for a manufacturing defect is somewhat ludicrous. If this is the best barefoot spas can do with service it is apparent I have made a huge mistake with my purchase. Please provide me the contact numbers for your supervisor and sales manager. I may end up having to purchase this $20 replacement but I will make sure to post enough negative remarks about your brand that it may cost you fine people at barefoot spas a lot more. I will wait until after I speak with your representatives before I decide on the order processing.

Thanks,

Mark ###

**Barefoot response**

Mark,

If you would like to request an RMA you may use RMA #15-7085 you may mail in the jet and we can test it for manufacturers defects.

Thank You,

Customer Service

**My response**

I am still waiting for the service manager and sales manager phone numbers please....

Spa drain

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

During the blowout sale, I asked the salesman how the panels were removed to get to the inside. He called for his supervisor, and they walked me over to a different model.

I told them I could get a spa from Home Depot for the same price they were offering me but theirs came with WIFI speakers and waterfall. The supervisor convinced me I was getting a better quality longer lasting spa from your company.

Due to COVID-19 and waiting for permits from PEPCO the electrician could not do the installation until a month after my purchase. The manual I was provided for my spa which was downloaded showed that it should have a drain valve but it did not.

Barefoot Spas Reply:
Ms. Gosman, thank you for reaching out to us. The online manual you downloaded referenced the drain plug in older models (please see the note below the picture). We hope you are enjoying your spa!

Lousy support for problems since new

after delivery and set up it has a plumbing leak. Called them and ended up repairing ourselves as they wouldn't help.

Not long after had trouble with ionizer that went bad. And the filter housing has been broke since new. They told us a tech would call which never did and then calling them back they basically said in a nutshell it's our problem.

Recommend to NEVER buy a barefoot spa EVER. They are out for the buck and no support mechanism.int
